Deng Shutdown From Playing WIth Great Britain
Luol Deng will no longer be playing for the Great Britain national team this summer, after the NBA refused to insure his $71 million contract because Deng proved to be too much of a risk because of his history of back problems.
The only option they have now is for Great Britain to negotiate with the Bulls to find a way to insure Deng’s contract. Great Britain officials are preparing an appeal of the deicision, but for anyone who has dealt with an insurance company in their life knows that this will be a fruitless effort.
Luol is said to be absoutely devastated. It now looks like Great Britain will fail to qualify for the 2009 European Championships, unless Ben Gordon comes to an agreement with the Bulls by Tuesday to make his Great Britain debut, or the remaining players somehow rally together and win as massive underdogs.
