Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Recap

November 8th, 2008 by Andrew Wamboldt

The Chicago Bulls lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 106 to 97 tonight.

The Bulls were unable to ever stop Lebron James.  Lebron finished with 41 points and 13 rebounds.  The Bulls rarely doubled him, and Deng always went softly under the screens allowing Lebron to line up for some easy three point shots.

The Bulls fell behind by 14 early, but Ben Gordon got the Bulls back into the game with a 17 point first half.  Gordon finished the game with 29 points and 3 assists.  Gordon is now averaging 20 points a game on the season.

In the 2nd half, the Cavaliers made an adjustment to Gordon, doubling him everytime he had the ball.  Despite this, Gordon was able to breakaway for 10 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Bulls competitive.

Vinny Del Negro made the game tougher for Gordon by constantly running a double team between Gordon and Noah.  The Cavaliers would trap Gordon everytime on this play.  It’s a real mystery why the Bulls kept running the play after it didn’t work the first 10 times.

Tonight’s game was Ben Gordon’s first start of the year.

Derrick Rose only played a so so game tonight.  He finished with 17 point and 9 assists, which appears good on the surface, but he shot 7-21.  Rose seemed uncomfortable with the Cavalier’s defense, which congested the lane.

Luol Deng had a solid game, scoring 20 points on 8-17 shooting.  Unfortunately, Deng disappeared for most of the fourth quarter and played horrible defense throughout the game.

A newsbreak is coming in…and it says that Thabo Sefolosha is still a horrible basketball player.  Sefolosha finished the game with 0 points as he went on to stagnate the offense in the early fourth quarter allowing Cleveland to take a sizeable lead.

Andres Nocioni kept the Bulls in the games, scoring 16 points while on fire from three point land.

The Cavaliers improved to 5-2 on the season.  The Bulls are now 3-4 on the year.  This was the Bulls’ first home loss of the season.

The Bulls next game is against Atlanta, Tuesday, at the United Center.
