Bulls to Build Johnny Red Kerr a Statue
December 4th, 2008 by Andrew WamboldtAccording to the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Bulls will build a statue for Johnny Red Kerr.
The Bulls will honor Johnny “Red” Kerr later this season when they unveil a statue created by the same artist who made the Michael Jordan statue.
Kerr, the first coach in Bulls history and a longtime broadcaster, has served in a variety of roles during his lengthy association with the franchise.
“When you think of the Bulls, he’s one you automatically think about,” Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. “And then when you get to know him and his personality and what a good time he is, you can’t help but be fond of him.”
This is a good move. In his prime, Johnny Red Kerr was a great broadcaster for the Bulls. If the hall of fame isn’t going to honor Kerr, it is a good thing the Bulls are.
