Reinsdorf on Monsters in the Morning Recap

Jerry Reinsdorf appeared on Monsters in the Morning and discussed the Chicago Bulls. Here is what he had to say:

When talking about the White Sox, Reinsdorf said that he is not concerned with making money, he just doesn’t want to lose money.
Reinsdorf doesn’t know whether Vinny is signed for a two year deal with an option year or a three year contract. He thinks it is a three year contract.
His grade for the Bulls this season up to this day is the lowest grade possible. This season is an embarrassment and disaster. But it will get better.
John Paxson will not let this situation continue.
You win or you lose as an organization. John Paxson is the one person not responsible for what is happening. Paxson is a great general manager and great judge of talent.
Has a lot of thoughts on whether the players are not being coached up or not, but he can’t say them publicly.
The team was mailing it in at in some point in the season. They are not mailing it in anymore and playing hard.
Has one great player in Derrick Rose. Had one great player in Michael Jordan when he got involved with the Bulls. When the Bulls won their first championship, Jordan was the only player left from Reinsdorf’s original team. Going forward, the team will bring in players that can feed off of Derrick Rose.
Will not take changing 11 players. Thinks the team has some pretty good players on the team. Just need to find an inside presence.

When Reinsdorf talked about it being an organizational failure and not a John Paxson failure, he may have been trying to shift some of the blame on himself. This is particularly evident when he calls Paxson a great evaluator of talent. Here, he is likely talking about Paxson’s great eye in talent for tapping out Mike D’Antoni to coach the Bulls.
