Dennis Rodman - Celebrity Apprentice Ep. 1 Recap

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Dennis Rodman is one of sixteen contestants to participate in this season of the Celebrity Apprentice on NBC.  The purpose of this television show is for the celebrities to raise a lot of money for charity.

The celebrities are split into two teams, a men’s team and a women’s team.  The men’s team was named KOTU, which stands for Kings of the Universe.  The women’s tream was named Team Athena.

The men’s team in addition to Rodman consists of comedian, Andrew Dice Clay; R&B Star, Brian McKnight; Heisman Trophy Winner, Herschel Walker; country star, Clint Black; figure skating champion, Scott Hamilton; and Monster Garage’s Jesse G. James.

The women’s team consists of R&B singer from the group TLC, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins; reality star, Khloe Kardashian; mother and daughter combo, Joan and Melissa Rivers; Deal or No Deal model, Claudia Jordan; poker champion, Annie Duke; playboy playmate, Brande Roderick; and LPGA golfer, Natalie Gulbis.

Joan Rivers was selected as the first project manager of the women’s team.

Herschel Walker was selected as the first project manager of the men’s team.  From the start, Dennis Rodman wasn’t happy with the selection of the team manager, as he did not get a say in who itshould be.  Dennis felt that Walker doesn’t have the leadership skills needed.

The first challenge was to sell cupcakes in New York City.  The team that raised the most money won.

In the kitchen, Andrew Dice Clay wasn’t really doing anything, as he felt it wasn’t his kind of work, so he skipped out and took Dennis with him.  The pair went on Sirius radio to promote the cupcake sale.  Andrew Dice Clay felt it was his job to just get out as many people as possible.

The guys team forgot to put sugar in their chocalate cupcake mix, so they had to put a bunch of syrup on top that was supposed to soak through in an attempt to sweeten up the cupcakes a bit.

The most impressive part of the men’s team was their truck decoration, which Jesse G. James naturally took care of.  That was very well done.

The guys seemed to start off strong, going to Time Square, and seemingly having a frenzy around him.  Tom Green got his good friend, Tony Hawk to come down and drop a $1,000 donation.  They also had the Naked Cowboy playing on top of their truck.

But the girls, got the entire playboy building to come down, and Brande had one of her friends out there wearing the playboy bunny outfit.

The two teams had to send their best cupcake over to Crumbs in New York for a taste test.  The winner of the taste test earned an additional $15,000.  They said that the men’s cupcake was terrible.

In the end, the men’s team sold $49,000, which wasn’t quite enough to match the $61,000 that the women’s team sold.

Part of the men’s problem was that Dennis wouldn’t get out of the truck.  Dennis said that he didn’t want to interfere with the cupcake selling by having people taking pictures with him, but not buying cupcakes.  He wanted them to buy cupcakes, then be by him in the truck.

Annie Duke was the reason the women’s team won.  She called down a bunch of her poker friends, and they all dropped very large donations in the thousands.

Tom Green felt the team lost because they didn’t bring in enough big donors.  Jesse G. James felt Rodman was the biggest reason that the team lost.

Dennis felt that he was effective in what he did, as Tom Green yelling, “Dennis Rodman” got people to come over and buy cupcakes.  Rodman felt that the team’s problem was that Herschel didn’t delegate what each person was going to be doing.

Donald Trump told Dennis to not play the victim.

Herschel Walker, Andrew Dice Clay, and Dennis Rodman were the three up for elimination.  Both Andrew Dice Clay and Dennis Rodman said Herschel should be fired, but in the end, Andrew Dice Clay was the one fired.
